Alison Alexander

Born and educated in Tasmania, with a PhD in Tasmanian history Alison Alexander was a teacher but moved into writing commissioned histories of Tasmanian institutions, ranging from The Brighton municipal district to the Clarence Football Club. She has also written general books including an award-winning biography of Jane Franklin and her most recent book, Tasmania v British Empire: the battle to end convict transportation. She is particularly interested in women's history.
